Everywhere we turn, it's obvious that autumn is finally here and in full force. Bright orange pumpkins are piled in front of markets and dot our front porches, leaves are finally yielding to the shorter days with a flashy display of color, and the country is feeling the chilly effects of cool fronts moving from coast to coast. Even the south has felt some reprise from the scorching heat of summer in cooler nights and mornings. It's many people's favorite time of year, so bake some pumpkin-flavored goodies and get cozy with these wonderful fall decorating tips!

Bring the outdoors in: Because, after all, the beautiful foliage and changing landscape is the most notable thing about the season! Adding natural touches to your decor is an extremely cost-effective way to personalize your home, especially if you forage for decoration in your yard! Pressing leaves will preserve them, and the dried leaves can be placed artfully along a mantel or gathered in a basket for a pop of color. Acorns are also visually pleasing and easy to collect – try filling a bowl with large burr oak acorns for a great natural coffee table centerpiece. Smaller acorns make excellent vase fillers or try filling a glass jar halfway with live oak acorns, then placing a candle on top for a unique look. If you live in the city and don't have a yard, don't worry. Many home decor stores carry faux versions of these woodsy items. Finally, it goes without saying that adding real pumpkins, of the jack o lantern or miniature variety, is always a winning move this time of year!

Play with pops of color: No need to change your entire color scheme or buy new, autumn-themed bedding. Your classic white duvet cover is easily transformed into a cozy haven by simply adding a few accent pillows or a brightly colored throw. Don't forget that autumn has many shades – try bright jewel tones like royal purple, gold, and ruby red to make a statement in your bedroom. Or keep it soft and classic with sage green, burnt orange, and burgundy accents. Just make sure you've got a warm, goose-down comforter to match for those chilly nights!

Ambient lighting: Now that the days are shorter and the sun isn't as bright, turn to softer lighting solutions to keep that autumn glow going. Fall-scented candles will not only add great ambiance, but they will also make your home smell amazing. (Spiced Pumpkin from Yankee Candle is one of our favorites!) If you've got one, don't forget to light the fireplace as the nights get cooler – nothing is cozier than a crackling fire!

It doesn't take much to get into the spirit, so spend a little time sprucing up your home this weekend, then curl up with your favorite blanket and a mug of hot cider and enjoy! Feel free to share your favorite fall decorating photos, DIY projects, and tips with us!
